A Charlottetown woman who stole from her co-workers was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in jail.
52-year-old Kimberly Mae MacKinnon of Charlottetown stole $6,088 from the social fund where she worked.
She was employed by the provincial government in Information Technology Shared Services.

Forged signature on 22 cheques

Court heard she forged the co-signer's signature on 22 cheques for the social fund account over a two year period.
Court also heard the woman lost her job after she came forward on her own to confess.
She has since cashed in her government pension and has paid the money back.
MacKinnon pleaded guilty in July to one count of uttering forged documents.

Feels 'deep remorse'

Court heard the woman has a gambling addiction and is receiving treatment.
At her sentencing hearing Tuesday, MacKinnon apologized to her former co-workers and her family.
She said she feels "deep remorse."
The woman is serving her 90-day jail sentence on weekends.
Judge John Douglas excluded the weekend of Dec. 23.
