29 farms — from dairy farms to wineries — welcome visitors for Open Farm Day
Islanders got a look at where their food — and maybe even their wine — comes from on Sunday as 29 farms across the province opened their door to the public.
Open Farm Day is an annual event held in the three Maritime provinces.
Farms participating included dairy farms, organic farms, livestock, woodlots, orchards and wineries.
Yanira Greener, a volunteer at Charlottetown's organic Legacy Garden, was happy to welcome guests because she said it's important people know how to grow their own food.
"It's a great skill to have, to know how to grow your own food, especially in these times, and use an organic method," she said. "I mean, everybody needs to eat."
