Concert goers were pleasantly surprised Friday evening at how easy it was to get to the inaugural event at Rogers Place.
"We didn't run into any traffic problems," said Jamie Sorenson on his way into downtown arena for the Keith Urban concert.
"We went down the street and enjoyed some of the local cuisine and had a cocktail."
Wendy Nixon and Rose Mueller opted to take the LRT early and go out for dinner.
"We expected it would be busy for traffic but there's barely any traffic down here."
Kamil Issa said he was looking forward the evening and wanted to make the most of it.
"We wanted come early to eat and to walk because there's a lot of construction and you have to get around the construction," he said. "It's the first one. People will get used to it."
Nancy Robinson said she anticipated the construction would make it difficult to get around the arena district, so left home early.
"We just hopped on the LRT and walked a few blocks, saw some of the restaurants that were open," she said.
"It was OK. If it was minus 20 or pouring rain, I might think differently, but today was great."
The arena will get another test Saturday when Dolly Parton hits the stage.
