Four soldiers suffered serious injuries following a vehicle accident at the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown.
According to public affairs officer Capt. Evelyn Lemire, nine soldiers were injured in total during a training exercise at around 10:30 a.m. They are members of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment.
"They really hit an embankment," said Lemire. "It was in a LAV 6.0, a light-armoured vehicle and they were conducting routine training at the time."
"It was not a rollover," she said.
The four soldiers with serious injuries were transported to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.
The five other soldiers involved were transported to the 42nd health services centre on base. They were treated for minor injuries.
As of 4:30 p.m., Lemire said all nine soldiers involved had been released.
"An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the incident," said Lemire.
