Club hopes to expand as it celebrates 30th anniversary
The executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Charlottetown would like to see the charitable organization continue to expand.
Krista Shaw said there is a wait list until 2018 for summer and after-school programs.
"There are so many services and programs we'd like to run, we just don't have the space for it," she said.
Services are now offered in Montague, but Shaw says there is a demand in other regions of the province as well.
"I look forward to hoping to expand yet again into other communities across the Island," she said.
On Saturday, hundreds of people came out to Founders Hall for free Family Fun Day in celebration of the club's 30th anniversary.
"We wanted to give something back to the community," Shaw said. "It's really nice that the community embraced us."
The club relies on volunteers to provide programs for the healthy development of more than 1,000 young people between the ages of six and 29.
