'The guy working the ferris wheel gave us a strange look,' says crib player
Three young Islanders took their cribbage game to the next level this summer, documenting their games and travels on social media, using the hashtag #IslandCribbageTour.
The locales have been iconic and unexpected including Province House, the Confederation Bridge, the Sandspit ferris wheel, and even a berry patch.
Unsurprisingly, all started during a crib game.
"We came up with the idea of how hilarious it'd be to kind of take some pictures around Charlottetown and then even further around the whole Island," player Spencer Gallant told Island Morning.
"It's kind of snowballed from there."
Pegs flying in the wind
"We wanted to do it to give ourselves a laugh, and maybe a few of our friends on Instagram, and well seems like people are laughing I guess," said fellow player Dave Brothers.
The group said they had to deal a few more hands again and pegs were flying because of the wind when they played at the Confederation Bridge.
They also played a few hands while riding the Sandspit ferris wheel.
"The guy working the ferris wheel gave us a strange look," said Gallant.
"Especially with a cribbage board in hand and some pegs in our teeth," said Brothers.
Plans to keep the tour going
The players say cribbage is more popular among young people than some might think.
They still want to explore more up west and maybe plan a provincial championship.
