For decades, Montreal's Mile End neighbourhood has — among other things — been a hub for creatives, from writers to filmmakers to musicians. The area has perhaps gained the most attention for the latter, with the likes of Arcade Fire(external link), Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Malajube(external link), Wolf Parade and Grimes going from the local scene to major international stages. And now, there's a new generation aiming to follow their footsteps.
In this segment for CBC Arts, directed by Guillaume Alcaraz(external link) with assistance from Sarah Lamb, you'll learn about the neighbourhood and see how musicians like She-Devils(external link), Essaie Pas(external link) and Jef Ellise Barbara(external link) are utilizing its spaces to pursue their dreams.
