7 things to do on P.E.I. after Labour Day

The fun isn't over after the long weekend
Tourist season on Prince Edward Island isn't over yet. If you're visiting the Island in September there are still plenty of things to do.
1. Fall Flavours
The weather may be cooling down, but the food scene heats up on P.E.I. in September. Celebrity chefs descend upon Prince Edward Island to host a number of unique culinary experiences as part of Fall Flavours.
It's a month long culinary celebration highlighting authentic Island tastes and traditions. Events take place in communities across P.E.I.
There are hands on experiences such as picking potatoes, catching lobsters, and harvesting oysters and multi-course dining experiences.
New this year, a celebration of bluefin tuna at Basin Head Provincial Park, one of the top beaches in the world, hosted by celebrity chef Chuck Hughes along with P.E.I. chef Tyler Gallant on Sept. 8.

2. Cavendish
About half the shops will be open along the Cavendish Boardwalk along with some attractions. The Cavendish Entertainment Boardwalk which includes Ripley's Believe It or Not!, Wax World of the Stars, and Mariner's Cove - Real Miniature Golf are open until Sept. 11. They are closed from Sept. 12 to 16 and then open again on Sept. 17 to 18.
3. Anne of Green Gables
Also open in Cavendish, Lucy Maud Montgomery's Cavendish Home is open until Thanksgiving weekend along with Lucy Maud Montgomery Birthplace in New London.

4. Good eats
FireWorks, Chef Michael Smith's restaurant in Bay Fortune is open until Oct. 9 along with the Inn at Bay Fortune. The restaurant is known for its dedication to local ingredients all cooked over fire and family style seating. Call for reservations.
Point Prim Chowder House, beside the Island's oldest lighthouse, in Belfast is open until Sept. 30 seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. It's located on five acres of oceanfront property. It serves Island produced goods, all prepared with authentic East Coast style.
You can also visit Glasgow Glen Farm in New Glasgow where artisanal cheese is made. It stays open all year round.
5. Fun for the family
The Haunted Mansion in the town of Kensington is open until Sept. 11, closed and then open again starting Oct. 15 for the annual Halloween - Nights of Fear!
Burlington Amusement Park with go-karts is open weekends in September.
The Toy Factory in New Glasgow is open until Oct. 15.
6. Arts and Crafts
Knit Pickers, which offers knitting workshops and Island-made goodies is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday until Thanksgiving.

7. Explore the outdoors
All golf courses are open until Oct. 31.
You can also explore nature by checking out the walking and biking trails such as the Confederation Trail which goes across the province and the Robinsons Island Trail System.
