Family wants the street renamed for Dr. Thomas Vincent Grant
The family of Dr. Thomas Vincent Grant, a P.E.I. doctor and politician, is asking the Town of Montague to honour his memory by naming a street for him.
Grant's family is asking for School Street, where Grant lived and practised medicine, to be renamed Grant Street.

Grant was born in Peakes Station, about halfway between Montague and Charlottetown, in 1876, but lived and worked most of his life in Montague.
"He was a teacher and he was a doctor for many years in that community," said granddaughter Ann Bolger.
He served in the P.E.I. Legislature from 1927 to 1930, in Parliament from 1935 to 1949 and in the Senate from 1949 to 1965. He died in 1966, just a few days after his 90th birthday.
"He was a large member of that community," said Bolger.
The family is hoping town council will approve the name change at its Sept. 26 meeting. Bolger has started an online petition to demonstrate support for the idea.
