Vehicle was heading north on Deerfoot Trail north of Dunbow Road
A man was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition Wednesday afternoon after an SUV left Deerfoot Trail north of Dunbow Road and landed in the Bow River.
Emergency crews were called about 2:30 p.m. after a northbound, red SUV left the highway and travelled down an embankment into the river at the south edge of the city limits. The man was the lone occupant in the vehicle.
Calgary Fire Department removed the driver from the vehicle and he was transported to hospital with a variety of injuries.
The crash caused traffic to be backed up for several kilometres.
