Alberta Fish and Wildlife concludes there were no laws to break
Alberta Fish and Wildlife has confirmed the hunter captured on video killing a bear with a spear won't face charges.
A video posted in June on YouTube shows American hunter Josh Bowmar hitting the bear with a spear. He later told CBC News that the bear died immediately.

In response, the Alberta government announced plans to outlaw spear hunting this fall. But an investigation showed Bowmar didn't break any existing laws.
Bowmar's video is no longer online.
Last week, athletic clothing manufacturer Under Armour cut ties with Bowmar's wife, Sarah Bowmar, citing the video as the reason. She is a bowhunter who signed with Under Armour as part of the company's women's hunting advertising campaign.
