After finishing her workday as a dental hygienist, Summer Stockwell changes out of her scrubs, pulls out her painting supplies and gets to work.
After settling on what she's going to paint, Stockwell looks into the mirror and begins working on the surreal designs. But she's not using a canvas. She's painting her face.
"For me, it feels really relaxing, to see yourself as a different character is funny, it's fun. It's a nice feeling," Stockwell said.
"Being a dental hygienist, I don't really have a lot of time to be creative, you're always in a professional mindset," she said. "It's a lot of go, go, go. When I come home it is a way for me to relax and de-stress."
Though you can find Stockwell's work on Instagram(external link), she shared some of her favourite work with us. Scroll down to have a look.

Each painting takes about two hours. Some involve working with props to get the right effect.
