Hundreds of people gathered along Memorial Avenue Saturday to celebrate the Winnipeg Filipino Street Festival.
The fifth annual festival kicked off with a parade in the morning. This year was the first time the event has been held in the downtown area.

Clarielle Pabalan was one of several performers to take the stage Saturday night.
"It's really great because everyone is united in this one event and it feels like you're back home in the the Philippines when you see all these Filipinos gather together," she said.
Organizers expected about 8,000 people to attend.
