More than a dozen Islanders are in the running to be Canada's next astronaut.
According to the Canadian Space Agency, 13 people from P.E.I. have applied through the agency's astronaut recruitment campaign.
But the competition will be stiff — nearly 4,000 people across the country have applied for two positions.
Over the next year, that large pool of applicants will be whittled down through a series of tests, interviews and security clearances.
The two winners will be announced next summer.
