Trudeau met Islanders at Old Home Week and served ice cream at Cows Creamery
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met Islanders and served ice cream during a short visit to P.E.I. on Tuesday afternoon.
"Always good to be back in Prince Edward Island," Trudeau said after meeting with P.E.I. Premier Wade MacLauchlan at the Charlottetown Airport.
Earlier in the day, Trudeau was in Bridgetown, N.S., to announce $116 million in federal funding for projects related to water and transit. He told a crowd in Bridgetown that the federal government was committed to the P.E.I.-N.S. ferry service.
In Charlottetown, Trudeau didn't make a funding announcement.
Instead, he visited some of the city's popular attractions, including Cows Creamery, where he served ice cream to a long line of people and posed for photos.
Trudeau also visited Old Home Week and the Red Shores racetrack.
On this day in 2000, Prime Minister Jean Chrétien was visiting the Island and touring Old Home Week in Charlottetown when a 23-year-old man hit him in the face with a pie.
