Lucas is facing charges of first-degree murder, forcible confinement, robbery and arson in relation to the violent abduction and subsequent death of 25-year-old Miller.
Few people were in the courtroom while Judge Mark Pike read the charges to Lucas, who said nothing to reporters as he was led to and from the courtroom.
Miller's body was found at the end of a driveway in Conception Bay South neighbourhood on July 30. Police believe Lucas, as well as three other men — Paul Connolly, Calvin Kenny, and Kyle Morgan — abducted, robbed and killed Miller.

The other three men have already been charged with first-degree murder, forcible confinement, arson and robbery.
Lucas, also known as C.J. Clarke, fled the province Saturday on a Marine Atlantic ferry to Nova Scotia. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest early Monday.
Lucas was arrested in Halifax Tuesday morning and escorted back to St. John's by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Wednesday night.

Brady Myler also appeared before a judge Thursday. Police believe Myler was travelling with Lucas, but he is not considered a suspect in Miller's death. Myler was wanted on separate charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen goods and theft under $5,000.
