Police believe there may be more victims
A 29-year-old Edmonton man faces charges in connection with three alleged sexual assaults, and police say they're looking for other possible victims.
Matthew McKnight, 29, has been charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, two counts of sexual assault and one count of unlawful confinement.
Police say all three alleged assaults happened at McKnight's home.
- On April 1, a 17-year-old girl left Knoxville's Tavern with friends to attend an "after party" at McKnight's residence, and was allegedly sexually assaulted.
- On April 15, a 22-year-old woman left Knoxville's Tavern. The woman went to McKnight's home with her friends, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
- On July 6, a 21-year-old woman left the Old Strathcona Rack and went to McKnight's home, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
On his Twitter account, McKnight identifies himself as the director of sales and marketing for Urban Sparq Hospitality, the company that owns both Knoxville's Tavern and Old Strathcona Rack.
Urban Sparq Hospitality manager Brendan Crooks released a brief statement Wednesday night.
"We take this matter extremely seriously and will fully cooperate with Edmonton Police in any manner they ask us to," the statement said.
Police say they have been in contact with the company.
Detectives from the police sexual assault section began investigating after a complainant reported an incident to police on April 1.
Police say they want to speak to anyone with information about McKnight, about the alleged assaults, or about other possible assaults the accused may have committed.
