'Prince Edward Island is going to play a pivotal role' in electoral reform says P.E.I. Green leader
Green Party Leader Peter Bevan-Baker said he is convinced more than ever of the importance of electoral reform after attending the Green Party of Canada's national convention in Ottawa.
Bevan-Baker said there was a lot of discussion about proportional representation at the convention and added it's key that the party work hard across the country to show Canadians the merits of electoral reform.
"I think the focus for the next little while will be proportional representation. It's not often that you get to have a national dialogue on such an important issue," said Bevan-Baker.
"And of course Prince Edward Island is going to play a pivotal role in that because of the fact that we have our plebiscite in November."
Bevan-Baker and New Brunswick Green Party leader David Coon also spoke on a panel at the convention on how they got elected as MLAs under the current system.
He said other discussions focused on climate issues, public transportation and pipelines.
