Emmanuel Kahsai has been found fit to stand trial in spite of bizarre rants during previous court hearings.
The 30-year-old man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother Selma Alem, and second-degree murder in the death of Julie Tran.
Alem cared for Tran in her Coventry Hills home.

The two women were found dead in the home in October.
Kahsai has ranted about conspiracies in earlier court proceedings and refused to be assessed by doctors at the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre.
Today he was found fit to stand trial and a preliminary inquiry has been set for November.
Alem had sought court protection against her son in the months leading up to her death, saying she was afraid of him.
