If you're hoping to become P.E.I.'s newest senator, you'd better act fast.
The deadline for applications(external link) is Thursday at midnight.
There are 20 current and upcoming Senate positions in seven provinces: Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia.
The applications will be reviewed by an independent advisory board, according to the federal government. The board will then make recommendations to the prime minister.
At least two Islanders have publicly declared their intention to apply: lawyer Aidan Sheridan and Canadian Armed Forces veteran Owen Parkhouse.
The P.E.I. seat has been vacant since July 2014 when Catherine Callbeck retired.
