19-year-old man arrested in connection to bomb threat
Police in Charlottetown have arrested a 19-year-old man from Stratford, P.E.I., in connection to a bomb threat that forced everyone out of the Charlottetown Walmart store for several hours on Tuesday.
The man faces charges of public mischief and communicating a false and alarming message.
Charlottetown police had said they received a call at around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday from a male voice reporting a bomb at Walmart.
The store was closed, with everyone ordered out while police swept the area looking for any threat. The Halifax RCMP's Explosives Disposal Unit and K-9 unit were also called in. No devices were found.
Police later sought the public's assistance in identifying a suspect, and released a video of the man they later arrested.
"Charlottetown Police Services would like to thank the public for their input in resolving this investigation," said a news release sent out on Wednesday.
The man will appear in provincial court at a later date.
