Police have released a man who was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in a west Ottawa neighbourhood without laying charges.
The stabbing happened just before 5 p.m. on Saturday in the 1-100 block of Winthrop Private, a few blocks from Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre.
Jeremy Mack, 36, has been identified as the victim.
Paramedics say Mack had multiple stab wounds to his upper body. He was transported to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police arrested a man at the scene in connection with the stabbing. Authorities initially responded to reports of a shooting and stabbing, but the victim had only suffered stab wounds.
By Sunday morning, investigators had marked the area around Winthrop Court, an Ottawa Community Housing building, with police tape.
The man was released from police custody on Monday without charges, according to police. Acting Staff Sgt. Darren Vinet said the investigation is ongoing.
Corey Maxwell has lived in the building for 21 years and told CBC News that Saturday's fatal stabbing was the worst incident he'd seen during his years there.
"There's been a couple fights and stuff like that I've seen over the years, but nothing like a stabbing or anything like that," Maxwell said.
"I feel safe, but still, you never know what can happen."
Catherine Shortt, another longtime resident of Winthrop Court, offered her prayers to the victim's family.
"It's just devastating for the whole community... there's kids that live here," she said. "It frightens me to the point where I won't be able to sleep at night, knowing that something like this unfortunately happened so close to my door."
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
