Georgetown plans new maintenance building
The P.E.I. government has agreed to hand over a piece of land the Town of Georgetown was eyeing for a new maintenance building.
The province acquired the land, which is next to Georgetown's civic centre, in 2010 when taxes were not paid on it. It has now agreed to transfer the land to Georgetown for $1.
Mayor Lewis Levandier expressed his appreciation, saying the property is a great central location for a new maintenance building.
"Georgetown appreciates that the Province has been able to address our need in a timely manner," said Levandier in a news release.
