The Canadian edition of one of the world's largest online travel and leisure magazines has named a P.E.I. chef on its list of top chefs in the country.
MatadorNetwork.com recently profiled Emily Wells from The Mill in New Glasgow, P.E.I., among its top 14 chefs and restaurants in Canada.
It goes to the heart of what I really believe in these days in food and restaurants — is buying local. - Emily Wells
"I was pretty astonished. I got home late on Friday night, lo and behold, there was this on my Facebook page, and I was pretty taken aback and still feel quite overwhelmed by the response. I'm quite humbled by it and obviously honoured and delighted," said Wells.
"It kind of stems to some extent from the Taste of the Island award which we received last year and it goes to the heart of what I really believe in these days in food and restaurants — is buying local."
In the Matador Network article it says Emily Wells "takes regional and prized ingredients from sea and soil and turns them into global dishes inspired by her travels as a child."
Wells was in the first graduating class of the Culinary Institute of Canada in Charlottetown in 1985.
