Paul Strickland has brought from Kentucky a minor miracle to the Winnipeg Fringe.
Sweet, sensitive and funny is the story of Papa Squat and Rue Morhazit, residents of Big Fib trailer park. Strickland's characterizations are seamless and hilarious, channeling his Uncle False like Charlie Farquharson with a Tom Waits sensibility.
His deft similes ("Papa Squat walked like a bad William Shatner impression,") are hilarious and yet he scatters them like confetti without waiting for their impact.

His voice and guitar transport one into the stories, the "sorts" that Papa Squat sells in his "store of sorts."
Strickland saves the bittersweet revelation to the very end and if you leave without moist eyes you are a cold one indeed. Remember, "not being in awe of a miracle is uppity."
