THREE STARS | OCD is a likeable one-woman show but there's not much of a plot or a point
Rating: ★★★
Company: Defiance Theatre, Edmonton
Genre: Play — Comedy
Venue: 9 — Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, University of Winnipeg
This play is 46 minutes long.
It takes place at Venue 9.
It features one actor.
If you're hung up on numbers, you already have a lot in common with Louise Casemore, the writer and performer of OCD.
In this light little show, she plays Jenna, a young woman whose life is ruled by obsessive compulsive disorder. As a child, she even went to a cognitive behavioural camp "where kids traded issues like baseball cards."
Casemore is a likeable performer who scores on the strength of her charm. But that's about all there is to this play. There's not much of a plot or even a point.
OCD gets three stars instead of two thanks to one last number, 14. That's how many minutes shorter it is than the advertised running time.
