Dozens of people gathered in Winnipeg's North Point Douglas neighbourhood on Tuesday evening to remember a woman who died in a rooming house fire last week.
About 25 family members and friends of Brenda Campbell, 51, held a vigil outside what's left of the three-story house in the 100 block of Austin Street North.
Campbell died in the July 7 blaze, along with 61-year-old John McKinnon Bendon.
Those who attended Tuesday's vigil remembered Campbell as a generous person who spent time volunteering at a women's centre.
"She maintained a very kind and strong spirit," said Jennifer Roulette, a family member. "She enjoyed sharing laughter with all of those around her. She was very funny."
Winnipeg police are investigating the fire as a homicide.
