This tale of a priest and a part-time burlesque dancer is intriguing in its set up and alluring in its foreplay, but ultimately fails to provide a satisfying climax. (Too easy?)
Dianna Rasing, as Kat, and Rob Kwade, as the titular padre, work very well together at capturing the awkwardly hilarious and tender moments that inspire these unlikely romantics to fall for each other. The script has a lot of great punchlines, too, though some get lost to muddled delivery.
In the end I wanted so much more for these endearing characters than they get. - Kelly Stifora
Full confession: I'm a sucker for a good romantic comedy, and this one has almost all of the hallmarks, including likeable leads, a whopper of a romantic foil, and a dead-on montage parody. But in the end I wanted so much more for these endearing characters than they get, and I wanted to dig a little deeper into the emotional ramifications of the star-crossed quandaries that Rasing's script raises.
