What is a "gossamer obsession"? Is it, as our narrators suggest, "an albino bat, wrapped in lace"? Or perhaps "Butter. Just… butter."?

Regardless, Gossamer Obsessions is a weird, sometimes surreal, slightly uneven but still bizarrely entertaining hour of sketch.

Wrapped in the framing device of a perversion-obsessed Renaissance-era vicar and his "child bride" introducing a series of "cautionary tales," Gossamer Obsessions offers up everything from a father with a curious approach to discipline to the worst relaxation tape ever to a look at the dreams of crabs.

Some sketches work better than others. But Gossamer Obsessions is continuously smart, laced with clever wordplay and sharp writing, and performers Amy Shostak and Paul Blinov commit themselves to their odd brand of comedy admirably.

A worthy obsession for sketch comedy fans.
