FOUR STARS | There's a layer of sadness even under the comedy in this largely wordless show
Rating: ★★★★
Company: RAGMOP, Vancouver
Genre: Physical Theatre
Venue: 2 — MTC Up the Alley
A gentle treat for physical theatre fans, Vancouver's RAGMOP turn their considerable talents to creating a dreamlike world, where a woman encounters her late husband — killed in an unfortunate accident involving an umbrella and lightning.
And indeed, there's a layer of sadness even under the comedy in this largely wordless show.
But blending dance, mime, mask work and even some sleight-of-hand, performers Matthew "Poki" McCorkle and Nayana Fielkov show off an impressive range of skills.
For physical theatre fans, patience is rewarded with a tender, graceful show. - Joff Schmidt
This isn't for everyone, though — with a deliberately slow, dreamy pace, this show might test the patience of some.
