THREE STARS | There is definite talent in the cast, but this material has all been spoofed before
Rating: ★★★
Company: MTYP Summer Studio, Winnipeg
Genre: Play — Comedy
Venue: 22 — MTYP (Richardson Hall)
Every reality show, every dystopic teen movie, every pop culture reference is mashed up in this fringe offering. It is a spoof, so don't expect deeper than the reality shows they send up.
The performers are the teens of MTYP's Summer Studio, so they have enthusiasm and they go for the gusto.
There is definite talent in the cast, I just wish they were given the chance to shine. - Bradley Sawatzky
There are some funny moments. "White guy" humour and privilege in the pecking order of survival, a guard who's overly in touch with his feelings. But these same jokes keep repeating and lose their luster quickly. This material has all been spoofed before.
The staging was awkward and the scene changes drag, making the forty-five minutes feel long. The show starts and stops, killing all momentum.
There is definite talent in the cast, I just wish they were given the chance to shine.
