Cyclist hit by car, allegedly assaulted by driver near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West

'This is more than a collision, it's an assault as well,' police say

A cyclist claims he was struck by a car and then assaulted by the driver near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West Saturday afternoon.
Toronto Police Const. David Hopkinson told CBC News the cyclist told them he had been "cut off, the car hit him and the driver got out and punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground."

Police say the motorist then got into his car and took off.
"This is more than a collision, it's an assault as well," Hopkinson said.
He told CBC he doesn't believe the cyclist suffered any serious injuries.
