Alcohol not a factor, no charges being considered
A long weekend family camping trip went horribly wrong in southern Alberta the day before Canada Day.
A father drove over his three-year-old son at the Castle Falls Campground at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Pincher Creek RCMP said in a release Saturday.
The father had just set up the family's trailer for the long weekend and was moving the car when he ran over the boy.
He suffered serious injuries and was driven to hospital in Pincher Creek — about 40 kilometres east of the campground — by witnesses after they attempted to provide medical care.
The child was pronounced dead at hospital.
Police say alcohol is not a factor and charges are not being considered.
