Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm warnings and watches for almost every section of Alberta on Thursday, but many were lifted or adjusted as the afternoon progressed.
Calgary was under a warning along with a whole swatch of the central and southern parts of the province but by early evening many of the warnings were downgraded to watches.
The string of warnings stretched from Westlock-Barrhead-Athabasca in the north to Cardston-Fort Macleod-Magrath in the south.

At 2:55 p.m Environment Canada said meteorologists were tracking a long line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to toonie-sized hail and heavy rain.
Included in that stretch of severe weather were several storms moving eastward at 35 km/h from southern Calgary to Crossfield, the agency said.
Hail was reported in parts of south Calgary.
