It 'creates a support system, especially for the musical community'
Summerside residents have the opportunity to directly support local musicians through something called a Busker Bench on Water Street.
It just kind of creates a support system, especially for the musical community. - Blaire Guptill
The idea of the Busker Bench is to bring more music and culture to the city's streets, explained Blaire Guptill, a musician who also works for the organization.
She added that the initiative would "bring a bit of brightness" and community by giving people an opportunity to support local musicians.
"It just kind of creates a support system, especially for the musical community ... It would also bring, you know, culture to a lot of people who may not know of some of the different cultures ... of people that reside in Summerside."
The Busker Bench initiative was started by Downtown Summerside Inc.
