Police believe that a man who stabbed two residents of a Beddington Heights home on the weekend had chosen the address randomly.
Emergency crews were called to Beddington Drive N.E. around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Police chased the suspect into a nearby park with the help of a helicopter, but he took his own life before he could be taken into custody.
Two people in the house, Irvin Landherr, in his mid-60s, and his daughter Kara Landherr, in her 30s, suffered stab wounds.
They were taken to hospital and are now in stable condition.
Police say the man's identity will not be released.
There was a third person in the home at the time who was uninjured, according to police.
Earlier on Sunday there had been another call of a suspicious man knocking on someone's door. It's not clear if the incidents are related.
