Posting signs will allow town and locals to call RCMP
The Town of Stratford is putting up warning signs after damage to trails in its new conservation park at Fullerton's Creek.
The town put in close to two kilometres of trails late last fall on the 55-hectare property, which were opened up this spring.
Since the opening the town has received calls about unauthorized motorized vehicles in the park, and there has been visible damage.
"The first loop there was some damage done, not really heavy duty because it looks like it was kids, so it wasn't a heavy four-wheeler," said town recreation director Joanne Weir.
"We're just hoping now to get signs erected up and see if we can get that stopped."
Asking local residents to keep watch
Weir said that by posting signs prohibiting unauthorized vehicles, residents, and the town, will be able to call the RCMP.
She hopes residents of nearby Reeves Estates will take ownership of the new park and keep an eye out for intruders.
The town is adding another kilometre of trails at Fullerton's Creek this summer.
