A woman is dead following a two-vehicle car crash on Deerfoot Trail Thursday evening.
Another woman, in her late 40s, was transported to Foothills hospital with a serious but stable leg injury.
Paramedics say they responded to the northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail just south of Stoney Trail around 8 p.m.

Witnesses reported a car was heading southbound when it crossed the median and struck another vehicle in a northbound lane.
Each vehicle had only one driver and no passengers.
Traffic on the Deerfoot was rerouted in both northbound and southbound directions.

  • An earlier version of this story reported the victim of the deadly crash was a man. EMS officials issued a correction on Friday saying it was in fact a woman in her late 60s who was killed. June 24, 2016 5:41 PM
