'Summer songs have a certain vibe to them. There's just an openness and a breeziness to the music'
Tuesday marks the first official day of summer, and with a forecast high of 25C, the long-awaited season has finally reached the Island.
But what is summer without a summer playlist of songs to compliment the long days and warm nights?
Here are Island Morning's summer playlist picks, as well as some of yours.

Of all the classic summer songs, Island Morning host Matt Rainnie said the ones with a lasting impact are from his childhood.
"I still remember that double soundtrack album for Grease. You could open it up and see all the students from Rydell High, and one of the catchiest tunes of course has Danny and Sandy singing about their summer nights," he said.
"It's a classic earworm song. Once you hear just a few bars you're humming it for the rest of the day."
After the boys of summer have gone
Even though Don Henley's Boys of Summer was released in the fall of 1984, it's the quintessential summer song for host Mitch Cormier.
"Summer songs have a certain vibe to them," said Cormier. "There's just an openness and a breeziness to the music."
For Cormier, Henley captures that vibe with this song.
Your summer songs
And the requests came pouring in for summertime favourites.
"Without a doubt Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves is my go to summer song!" wrote Pamela Kennedy. "Happy Solstice to all. Let summer begin!"
Gina Markov wrote that one of her all-time favourite summer tunes is In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry.
Carol Wolkowski made the bold assertion the "best" summer song is Summer Breeze by Seals and Crofts.
Mike Wynne made a Canadian request.
Lorraine MacKinnon's summer song was a little bit more recent than other picks — Weezer's Islands in the Sun was released in 2001.
