A break-in and fire inside a vacant building under renovation sent Winnipeg police racing to Regent Avenue on Sunday.
Six members of the police service were then exposed to a hazardous chemical and required treatment, though none needed to be hospitalized.
Officers were called to the former site of the Canada One RV lot on Regent at Bienvenue Street in the Transcona area, just after 11:30 a.m.
The chemical exposure came during a follow-up investigation while the WPS members were in the building. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service's hazmat unit was called in to treat the victims.
Police did not say what chemical the members were exposed to.
Damage to the property is estimated at $15,000.
