Parking meter rates increased to $1.50, meter violations to $20
It isn't just parking meter fees that have gone up in Charlottetown — the fines for parking violations have also increased.
Parking meter violations have increased to $20, but if paid within seven calendar days (including the day the ticket was issued), the fine is only $10.
Fines for parking in restricted areas are $35, but increase to $50 if not paid within 20 calendar days.
Parking meter rates increased to $1.50 per hour and to $1.25 per hour at the Fitzroy, Queen and Pownal parkades. Parkade daily rates have also increased to $8.75 and $114 per month, including HST.
The updates to the Traffic Bylaw passed a third reading at Monday's city council meeting.
The parking fee increases are the first since 2012.
