RCMP invited to take part in land purification ceremony in Brudenell
An invitation to a recent Buddhist ceremony in Brudenell was an important way to connect to the community, according to the Kings District RCMP.
Two members from the district were invited to a land purification ceremony hosted by the Great Wisdom Buddhist Institute.
"I think that it's important particularly that we become familiar with, you know, the customs and ceremonies of the people we have living in our area," said Staff Sgt. Kevin Baillie. "The officers I think were moved and very honoured to have been involved in the actual ceremony and I think the Buddhist institute appreciated our involvement as well."
Two officers attended the ceremony, which included food, a tree planting and placing of stones.
Baillie said several other people were also there from surrounding communities.
