Afternoon thunderstorms possible across the South Coast
Good morning. Just a touch of 'January in June' for Vancouver over the next few days thanks to yet another cold low pressure system.
Tuesday morning temperatures will be down around 10 C with rounds of showers possible right across the South Coast.
Afternoon temperatures will feel a degree or two cooler than Monday, with highs struggling to hit 15 C — well below our seasonal of 19 C.
Cold low pressure systems often have a habit of sliding down to B.C. from Alaska during the month of June, bringing with it a much cooler air mass in the upper atmosphere. set
These kinds of low pressure systems are the perfect set-up for thunderstorms across the South Coast and there is a risk of thunder and lightning, downpours and small hail Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The cooler air will drop snow levels as well — watch for some accumulation at the top of the Coquihalla highway early Tuesday morning!
Summer weather on the horizon
Lingering showers will continue for Wednesday morning but high pressure looks to start building by the afternoon. That should help bring the sun back.
Long range forecasts show the sun sticking around into early next week with temperatures back to the 20s by the weekend.
