Keeping up with new technologies is expensive, says Amanda Myers
The two per cent tuition increase at Holland College for the coming academic year is understandable, says the president of the Holland College Student Union.
Amanda Myers, an accounting technology student, told CBC News the increase could cause some hardship.
"It's a little bit unfortunate," said Myers.
"We will see a little bit of increased stress from students who are financially struggling, but at the same time we understand why the college had to do it."
She said the college's need to keep up with new technologies comes with extra cost.
In actual dollar terms, the tuition increase varies across programs: less than $100 a year in trade and business programs, a little more than that in some of the health programs, and as much as $350 at the Atlantic Police Academy.
