Parliament Hill is too exposed to security breaches and should create its own security precinct, Ontario Liberal MP John O'Reilly said Friday.
O'Reilly's comments follow Thursday's incident in which a 38-year-old Ottawa man, Benoit Renault, allegedly drove a car containing two cans of gasoline past security to the foot of the Peace Tower at 5:40 a.m. local time.

Ordinarily, vehicles must go through a security check to access the Hill.
Renault was charged with mischief and two counts of uttering death threats and was to appear in court on Friday.
O'Reilly, once the target of a stalker, believes the RCMP, Parliament Hill security guards and the Ottawa Police Force are not doing a reliable job in co-ordinating security efforts on the public grounds.
This is not the first incidence of a security breach on Parliament Hill. In 2002, a protester waving an American flag walked past the prime minister during a portrait unveiling and in 1989, an armed passenger hijacked a bus bound for New York and re-directed it to Parliament Hill.
