The former mayor of Mascouche, Richard Marcotte, has died of cancer.
He was mayor for 21 years and resigned in November 2012 amid charges of fraud, corruption, breach of trust and conspiracy by Quebec's anti-corruption task unit, known as UPAC.
A warrant was issued the preceding April as part of an UPAC raid.
Links between Marcotte and a developer were first reported by Radio-Canada.
The developer allegedly paid for renovations at the mayor's house in return for contracts.
