Brush up on these 'Boomerisms' for the warm days ahead
As we head into warmer weather, residents of P.E.I. can expect to hear some new words in their CBC forecast — dandys, corkers and humdingers.
They're not official meteorological terms. They're coined by weatherman Kevin "Boomer" Gallant.
Here's what they mean:
1. Dandy
A dandy is when the temperature is between 20 and 24 C.
"Dandy's just a really nice day, temperate," said Gallant.
2. Corker
A corker is when the temperature is between 25 and 29 C.
"We see a lot of corkers — well, we like to see them," said Gallant.
This isn't a term he made up — it's one he learned from life on P.E.I.
"I grew up with people saying, 'It's a corker of a day.'"
3. Humdinger
A humdinger is when the temperature is between 30 and 34 C.
"Just take cover," said Gallant.
