Mounties from British Columbia helping with the Fort McMurray wildfire are trying to recover missing items — including pepper spray and ammunition — after their cruisers were broken into in southern Alberta while on their way home.
The officers were staying at the Airdrie Ramada Inn, with their vehicles in the hotel's parking lot, when the theft took place sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The two RCMP vehicles were also vandalized in the process.
The equipment stolen includes:
- Ammunition magazines with 9-mm bullets
- Pepper spray
- Handcuffs
- RCMP uniform pants, shirts and baseball caps
- Shoulder flash, duty belt and Leatherman pocket multi-tool
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
