Location to be announced after council approves the idea
Regina is making plans to have a pool party — for dogs — near the end of summer.
According to a report to members of city council, who must approve the idea, the city wants to open one of its outdoor pools to dog owners after the summer swimming season is over and before the pool is drained for the winter.
A similar initiative was held a number of times in Saskatoon.
"In response to many community requests and the popular nature of these events in other municipalities, the administration is planning to organize a dog swim at one outdoor pool," the report said.
City council approval is needed to adjust a bylaw that would allow for animals to be off leash on city property for the event.
