A 24-year-old man who died last night after being shot at a Brampton bar near Lisa Street and Dixie Road has been identified as Kadeem Bascombe of Mississauga.
On Saturday, police appealed to the public for help with the investigation, hoping to speak to any witnesses who were in the area of Dixie Road and Queen Street East in Brampton at the time of the shooting.
Const. Rachel Gibbs, with the Peel Regional Police, said they received several calls about gunshots at 9:01 p.m. Friday. When they arrived at the scene, the parking lot of a strip mall near All Stars Bar and Grill, they found the victim in critical condition.
Supt. Steve Walker from Peel paramedics told CBC News Friday evening that the man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Paramedics took him to hospital, where he later died.
Police tweeted around midnight that the homicide team would be taking over the investigation.
A number of police and emergency vehicles were at the scene Friday night, as well as canine and tactical units.
Residents of nearby apartment buildings were temporarily locked outside of their homes as police surrounded the area with tape.
Police and paramedics initially said the shooting victim was 17 years old, but corrected his age Saturday morning.
